SS003 - Freedom for all Prisoners (Red/Black on Sand)
This is an archival handpainted design from 1970 by Holger Meins, a cinematography student and member of the first generation of the far-left militants RAF (Rote Armee Fraktion) In 1974 he died in prison on hunger strike weighing just 36kg. Thousands marched through West Berlin attacking police despite a demonstration ban. Rudi Dutschke announced at his grave "Holger, der Kampf geht weiter!"
The image reads in German ‘Freedom for all Prisoners’ and features the names of liberation organisations active at the time in Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Japan, South Vietnam, Mozambique, Brazil, Japan, Uruguay, Palestine, Chile, Guatemala and the United States. This shirt comes with a one page two colour risograph printed zine that includes a brief history of each the organisations mentioned. Learn them.
This one is a loving nudge to those despairing today that there is a heritage to be reclaimed in the bowels of the imperial beast, the legacy of those who knew then what we know now, and so much more, about the myth of denazification and the international cord that connects us all.
100% of proceeds from this shirt will go to our friends at Lajee Center and 1for3 who are organising urgent grassroots community response across five refugee camps in the West Bank: Tulkarem, Nour Shams, Aida/Azza and Balata (near Nablus) as well as contributing to the outstanding legal fees fund for a Palestinian comrade curreently incarcerated in Berlin.
Hand printed by Solidarity Print Network in Berlin on Gildan shirts.
